Nakhichevan Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic

The Nakhichevan ASSR (or the Nakhichevan Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic; Azerbaijani: Нахчыван Мухтар Совет Сосjалист Республикасы) was an autonomous republic within the Azerbaijan SSR, which was then a part of the Soviet Union. It was formed on March 16, 1921 and became a part of the Azerbaijan SSR proper on February 9, 1924.

On November 19, 1990 it became the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic within the Republic of Azerbaijan.

In 2008 the National Bank of Azerbaijan minted a pair of gold and silver commemorative coins for the 85th anniversary of the creation of the Nakhichevan Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic.[1]
